In addition to the closed-loop control, it has additional functions that can be adapted to the particular application through parameterization. CU250D‑2 Control Units can be used to implement applications with positioning requirements in the drive. This expansion opens up their use in lifting, swiveling, traversing or rotating applications. The positioning functionality is comparable to that of SINAMICS S110 servo drives. However, the following notes must be observed in this context: On the one hand, vector control and sensorless vector control are supported, on the other hand, positioning is possible via one encoder or in parallel using two encoders. The Control Units are available in different versions, for example, in CU250D-2 DP-F, CU250D-2 PN-F, CU250D-2 PN-F PP (Push Pull: Alternative connection method for the 24 V DC supply voltage and the PN communication) and CU250D-2 PN-F FO (Fiber Optic). With the fail-safe variants of the CU250D-2 series, the fail-safe SINAMICS G120D inverter provides five safety functions: Safe Torque Off (STO) to prevent the drive from performing active movements, Safe Stop 1 (SS1) for continuous monitoring of a safe braking ramp, Safely Limited Speed (SLS) for preventing dangerous movements when exceeding a speed limit, Safe Direction (SDI) and Safe Speed Monitoring (SSM). An external 24 V DC power supply is required in order to operate the Control Unit. SINAMICS – the integrated drive family for every field of application.
